Senior Lead Teacher - New Childcare Center Description Start
Rate: $19.30/hour Job Summary: Oversees classroom teaching staff,
the daily activities of the classroom, and responsible for
implementing The Head Start Standards that ensure an educational
program that is developmentally appropriate and congruent with the
Programs School Readiness Goals. The Senior Lead Teacher is
responsible for creating a learning environment that is
linguistically, culturally, and educational rich. Primary Tasks:
Supervise and train classroom teaching staff and delegate
assignments. Responsible for monitoring, and oversight of classroom
staff, daily activities, lesson plans, classroom schedules,
attendance reports, educational observations, and screening and
assessments. Assure that all practices and activities are following
the OKDHS Licensing Requirements. Guide children through a daily
routine while following the classroom schedule. Prepare, post and
implement lesson plans and posted daily schedule that address all
developmental areas and are inclusive of children with
disabilities. Administer appropriate guidance when necessary and
implement developmentally appropriate practices that achieve
program goals by incorporating activities and learning that are
congruent to program goals. Responsible for documenting and
exhibiting knowledge and understanding of child outcomes. Conduct
developmental screenings. Utilize curriculum to individualize for
each child, and work with each child on their individual
developmental level. Plan, prepare, and attend parent teacher
conferences to discuss each child's strengths, challenges, outcomes
and progress on their individual needs. Promote parent engagement
and foster their involvement in parent teacher conferences, parent
meetings, center activities and individual lesson plans. Maintain
Child Staff ratio safety, supervision and continuity of care at all
times in the classroom and/or playgrounds; during regular classroom
activities, toileting, diapering, and rest time to ensure the
health, welfare, and safety of the children in the group, and
incorporate learning at mealtimes. Observe, document, and maintain
records of each child and reporting, daily attendance, meal counts,
daily health & safety checks and/or any accident or abuse reports.
Participate in staff meetings, parent meetings and professional
development and classroom observations/assessments and be actively
engaged and involved in the transition process of the children
moving to their next educational environment to ensure the needs of
the children are met. Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Education, Skills and Experience: MINIMUM Associate degree
in early childhood or 2 years' work experience in an early
childhood setting Must have or be in the process of obtaining Child
Development Associate (CDA); if no CDA, must be willing to sign a
contract Must have knowledge and ability to work with appropriate
software applications and communicate quickly and effectively both
orally and in writing Must have the ability to work with children,
remain calm, patient and make sound decisions in case of an
emergency or difficult situation Must strong interpersonal skills
necessary to lead people, be honest, trustworthy and dependable.
Must have multitasking ability, self-motivated, team player,
adaptable, and time management skills Must be willing to attend
required training and/or travel. Must be willing to work with
children with disabilities Must be able to conduct developmental
assessments and screenings Must be able to perform the physical
requirements of the job that may include lifting up to 55 pounds
Must have a valid state driver's license for appropriate vehicle
with a clean driving record frequent standing, walking, bending,
and kneeling Two (2) years' experience working with children TARGET
Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or related field
Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, effective leadership
and time management skills Exhibit the ability to be flexible and
adaptable, able to engage in multiple tasks, able to respond
quickly and appropriately to situations Possess knowledge and
experience working with appropriate software applications
Multitasking ability, self-motivated, team player, adaptable, and
time management skills Experience working with children with
disabilities Experience conducting developmental assessments and
screenings Must have knowledge and experience working with
appropriate software applications and communicate quickly and
effectively both orally and in writing Must have a history of
working with children, remain calm, patient and make sound
decisions in case of emergency situations and difficult situations
Must perform the physical requirements of the job that may include
lifting up to 55 pounds, frequent standing, walking, bending, and
kneeling Must have a valid state driver's license for appropriate
