OverviewThe Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for the
development and operations of critical infrastructure and platform
services, in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid
cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public
safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions' Video &
Software division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team
communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for
mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout
the world.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and
experienced Solution Architect to join our Platform Engineering
organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in
designing, implementing, and optimizing container orchestration
solutions using Red Hat OpenShift. You will play a critical role in
driving the adoption of OpenShift across our enterprise, ensuring
high availability, scalability, and security of our application
infrastructure.Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and architecture of the OpenShift platform to
meet the business requirements and technical standards of the
company.
- Collaborate with development teams to facilitate the adoption
of container-based development and deployment practices.
- Implement automated solutions for continuous integration and
continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of
applications running on OpenShift.
- Develop and maintain OpenShift templates, operators, and custom
resources to streamline the deployment of services.
- Define and implement security policies and procedures for the
OpenShift environment.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members on OpenShift
best practices and emerging technologies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within the
platform.
- Stay updated with the latest releases and features, and plan
upgrade paths for the platform.
- Document architectural decisions, design patterns, and
operational manuals for the OpenShift environment.
- Work with vendors and third parties to assess new technologies
and tools that can enhance the platform's
capabilities.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a
related field with over 8 years of experience.
- Experience with Red Hat OpenShift and containerization
technologies such as Docker.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and its ecosystem.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or
Perl.
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools
(e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef).
- Solid understanding of CI/CD methodologies and tools (e.g.,
Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix administration and
troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of networking, storage, and security fundamentals as
they relate to OpenShift and containerized environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership
skills.
- Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Architect
(RHCA) in OpenShift are highly desirable.Primary Skills:
