Please visit our website at www.thompsonpipegroup.com POSITION SUMMARY The Estimating Manager primarily works as the Leader of the Estimating Team to prepare quantity and cost estimates of prospective projects and submit bids and budgets for those projects. The Estimating Manager and Estimating Team support the Sales Team and others within the organization by providing cost estimating and help with bid preparation as needed. Position Responsibilities • Receive and process incoming Pressure Pipe, FRP, and RCMTP Requests for Quotes (RFQs) from Sales, PSG or TRE. • Set-up and maintain Estimating Folders for RFQs and assign an Estimator to develop project costs. • Estimating Manager prepares RFQs that are NOT otherwise assigned to an Estimator. • Review bid documents provided for completeness. Request missing information. • Review and evaluate plans and specification for project relevance and fit. • Establish Timeline of Activities to meet required bid dates. • Monitor status and maintain schedule of Project Assignments to ensure schedules are maintained. • Provide checking system to ensure bid accuracy. • Issue weekly raw material cost updates for use in costing of Workbooks being issued that week. • Research and Solicit proposals and bids for buyout material and subcontracts from potential suppliers. • Review bid documents and prepare RFIs to improve competitiveness. • Prepare competitive analysis when required. • Coordinate pre-bid meetings with sales and operations. • Review estimate versus actual cost to ensure accuracy of estimate. • Establish and maintain estimating performance metrics. • Maintain, update and improve the master copy of project cost workbooks, spreadsheets (etc.) as needed. • Schedule and hold bi-monthly Estimating TEAMS Meeting to review assignment status, SOPs, new cost templates, etc. • Hold regularly scheduled One-on-One Meeting with each Estimator. • Evaluate performance of estimating team. • Prepare Estimating Job Folders for Post-Award Estimating to Engineering Data Transfer. Some travel may be required. Qualifications EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or another related field. • 7 years commercial construction experience required. • Preferred experience with Sage Estimating, OnScreen Takeoff, P6, Earthworks, or other estimating software, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Software.
