Responsibilities: Journeyman Field Mechanic Observes mechanical
devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes
of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove
defective parts. Examines form and texture of parts to detect
imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in
dimensional requirements. Adjusts functional parts of devices and
control instruments. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs
special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and
cleans parts. Starts devices to test their performance. Looks for
maintenance issues that may need repairs. Performs preventive
maintenance, operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking
tools to make and repair parts. Repairs electrical equipment. Looks
for maintenance issues needing repairs. Performs miscellaneous
welding, cutting and fabrication as needed. Competencies Able to
properly use diagnostic equipment and work on distribution /
transmission equipment Terax / Altec type of utility work in the
area including all support equipment than will need repairs. Be
able to complete work orders and site doc daily and strong
diagnostics is a plus. Qualifications To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
