Job Description

SUMMARY

Serves as the ACH and Wire Manager of the Deposit Operations Department, overseeing ACH, Wire, Real-time payment functions, staff management, business continuity planning and service level agreements. Establishes risk-based internal controls. Develops appropriate policies and procedures to achieve maximum levels of client service, productivity and efficiency while ensuring compliance with banking regulations. Provides guidance and direction to subordinate supervisors in managing and motivating staff. Provides effective coaching for accountability to maximize optimum service performance, while providing motivation to inspire continuous improvement of individual and team performance. Exercises judgment and discretion in decision-making ensuring alignment under the ultimate authority of the Director.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

* Manage and support all aspects of ACH, Wire, and real-time payment processing
* Optimize service performance and inspire continuous improvement of assigned functional areas
* Drives the achievement of departmental strategic goals and objectives in support of Bank-wide strategies.
* Recognize and resolve operational disruptions with a sense of urgency, coordinating with internal partners and escalating with vendors and management as appropriate
* Partners closely with Treasury Management Operations Manager and other lines of business to ensure alignment with business objectives
* Develops and enhances service standards and their successful delivery.
* Identifies Key Performance Indicators and measures and reports performance against those KPIs.
* Provides senior management appropriate communications and metrics to ensure alignment and successful management.
* Interacts with auditors, compliance, and examiners to assist in Bank reviews and examinations. Follows up and corrects any items addressed and ensure necessary changes or recommendations have been implemented as directed.
* Monitor regulations that impact ACH, Wires, and real-time payments to determine if all policies and procedures are being adhered to and identify when new processes should be developed
* Develops and recommends new programs to improve efficiency, policies, operating procedures, and revision of internal standards.
* Provides staff with clear, concise written guidelines and minimizes losses through effective internal controls.
* Responsible for hiring and onboarding talent and coaching, mentoring, and evaluating team performance.
* Clearly communicates job expectations and holds staff accountable for job proficiency, productivity, project completion, professional standards, and training/career development requirements.
* Mentors individual staff members as they work to achieve individual and team performance goals. Addresses performance concerns in a timely manner when appropriate.
* Facilitates recurring team meetings to foster collaboration and strong communication (specifically to instill the FUB Culture) within the team.
* Ensures staff receives cross-training to cover one another's job duties for business continuity purposes. Ensures documented procedures are current as processes change.
* Allocates resources to support new departmental projects. Works closely with other departments to assure seamless transition between old and new systems and procedures.
* Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the Director of Deposit and Treasury Management Operations.
* Regular and reliable attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Performs other duties as requested by Senior Management.
* Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
* Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
* Dresses professionally.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience

* Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Business, Finance, or Banking
* 5 or more years of relevant work experience required.
* Prior management experience required.
* Working knowledge of banking products, systems, policies, procedures, and regulations.
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of payment products.

Technical/Functional Competencies

* Knowledge of ACH Payments and NACHA rules, Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification, or commitment to obtaining certification within one year
* Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills with the ability to represent the department in a positive and professional manner.
* Strategic and tactical thinker, with excellent leadership/managerial skills and decision-making ability.
* Comfortable working with a diverse group of people, being highly influential, collaborative, and effective.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills required to establish goals; direct and evaluate staff; interact with leadership, industry peers, and outside vendors; lead meetings and conduct presentations.
* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and manage projects to conclusion on time even during times of stress.
* Thorough knowledge of bank operations including extensive knowledge and familiarity with state and federal regulations pertaining to deposit accounts and bank operations.
* Extensive knowledge and familiarity with bank computer operations, preferably with experience working with Jack Henry product suites.
