Job Summary and Qualifications
  This is a Full Time Night shift position, 7pm-7am with rotating weekends Our Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. Our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit RNs provide critical care to patients with potentially life-threatening heart conditions to include post op CABGs, CAEs, thoracotomies, CRRT and Impella's. The CVICU patient tends to have multiple simultaneous drips and various methods of monitoring hemodynamics occurring. We are an amazing team, that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you, who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. What You Will Do In This Role:
  • Use therapeutic communication in daily practice
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic Intensive Care environment.
  • Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual ACC patients.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process.
  • Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care.
  • Promote a supportive environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture.
  • Maintain high quality, age specific care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as assigned.
  • Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver.
  • Participate in Cardiovascular Department specific initiatives and process improvement.
  • Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, nurse technicians, student nurses, and / or nurse interns.

  • Other duties as assigned
    What Qualifications You Will Need
    • Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional nursing
    • Associate Degree required, BSN is required within 24 months of hire if hire date is after 6/1/12
    • Current RN license in the State of TX or compact license
    • Current BLS issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
    • Current ACLS issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
    • CCRN preferred
    • Experience with high acuity ICU medical/surgical patients highly preferred
    • Minimum of 1 year experience in Critical Care in an acute care hospital within the last 3 years required, prefer 2 or more years of experience Medical City Heart & Spine Hospitals are hospitals for specialized advanced cardiovascular and spine care. Spine care is also provided for rare, hard-to-treat spinal deformities. Those include adult and pediatric scoliosis and spondylolistheses.
