Positions Overview
Technical lead for IT team. Responsible for the administration and support of enterprise technology infrastructure, including server, network, and end-user systems. The Senior Systems Administrator provides technical support and administration for complex IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, management, monitoring and support of the network, server, software, and storage infrastructures. Additionally, this position is responsible for following and applying information security best practices and maintaining the enterprise backup/recovery and disaster recovery services to insure reliability and integrity of the data infrastructure from theft and loss.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Mentors and trains less experienced team members.
  • Handles complex technical problems.
  • Installs, configures and maintains Hyper-V host servers, virtual machines, switches, routers, Firewalls, VPNs, and adjunct network devices.
  • Establishes infrastructure cloud architecture; ensuring appropriate controls are in place for performance, backup and recovery, and security
  • Performs file system configuration and management; creates, performs, and validates backup and recovery procedures.
  • Ensures that all maintenance, upgrades and patching of hardware and software systems are completed in a timely manner, staying current with releases, while maintaining the integrity of the existing technology environment.
  • Maintains local datacenter, wiring closets, and infrastructure cabling.
  • Excels at customer service when interacting with company employees, contractors, and clients to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Interfaces and coordinates with service providers and vendors, including supervising work of vendor support personnel and contractors.
  • Determines strategy for Firewalls, VPN's, SIEM systems, IDS/IPS, and network/server endpoint security solutions; installs, configures and maintains or provides direction for team members to complete.
  • Monitors and tests system performance and availability; responds appropriately to network/system alerts and events.
  • Determines system requirements and makes recommendations for projects, system performance, future growth and expansions.
  • Maintains understanding of security frameworks (CIS controls and NIST), along with the ability to apply them to an enterprise environment.
  • Recommends and implements security measures to protect technology systems and data. This includes the regular review and remediation of security vulnerabilities and threats and assisting third party vendors in providing network security services, audits and assessments.
  • Actively monitors change requests, project queues, and group ticketing system to document work and facilitate communications with end users and key players.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate equipment inventories, including related warranties and service level agreements.
  • Creates and maintains detailed technical documentation, including updates to disaster recovery and business continuity documentation annually or as changes occur.
  • Works with company employees, contractors, and clients to resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
  • Leads the development and testing of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans.
  • Assists in the development of strategic and tactical technology plans.
  • Participate and contribute to cross-functional team projects.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
  • Perform other related duties as required. Responsibilities may require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice and on-call support.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • 5+ years of relevant experience as a systems/network administrator
    • Strong Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, and IIS
    • Citrix (Preferred)
    • Ability to perform trouble shooting of network problems
    • Google Distributed Cloud Hosted (Preferred)
    • SQL Server Experience (Preferred)
    • Knowledge of Linux OS (Preferred)
    • Network Design experience
    • Experience with repairing hardware
    • Relevant college coursework and certifications
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Strong work ethic
    • Ability to Multi-Task
    • Attention to detail
    • Strong organizational skills


      • Some work outside normal business hours and some weekends required
      • Training will be provided for this position
