Monitors activities to minimize the company's exposure to risk. Activities may include quantitative analysis, risk identification and remediation. Represents or supports the reputation of the company to minimize operational risk by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to operational risk standards through effective identification, assessment, control, monitoring, testing and reporting of operational risk within the risk appetite. Job Function: Risk Management

Ensures adherence to the policies and procedures established by the company. Manages policy, standard definition and monitoring of policy, standard implementation, ensuring harmonization and consistency of risk policies. Monitors and manages risk/exposure and compliance with the company's policies. Identifies, manages and reports on the company's risk areas. Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of data, document retention, and monitors systems.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Sr. Associate, Operational Risk is responsible for oversight of the strategic development, implementation, and effective execution of the Operational Risk program, including the identification, management, governance and reporting of Operational Risks within the organization. Oversight is executed via ongoing and periodic Monitoring, point in time Testing, Independent Risk Reviews (IRR) and BAU Oversight and Independent Challenge (IC).
Key program elements cover: internal loss, external loss, risk assessment, business impact assessments, KRIs, scenario analysis / stress testing, training, awareness, and communication, issues and remediation planning, tracking, MIS and reporting, testing, compliance, and monitoring.Essential Functions:

  • Perform ongoing or periodic monitoring of operational risks within the first line of defense leveraging targeted metrics and other information (e.g. - KRI and RAS metrics, losses, operational risk events, and new, emerging, and existing issues)
  • Provide independent challenge of RCSA and Issue Management activities and oversight of BAU activities (e.g. - Monthly Business Review and Control forums, Key governance and working group forums)
  • Perform Independent review and oversight of procedures, training content, deployment, program integration and policy adherence.
  • Oversight of adherence of Operational Risk Framework, Methodology and data governance
  • Help facilitate and oversee loss program requirements across SC (Scenario Analysis, External/Internal loss data)
  • Execute independent reviews or targeted testing of operational risk within specific business processes or functions to identify opportunities for improvement in the operational risk environment
  • Contributes to key stakeholder reporting, escalation and communication to Risk Governance Forums
  • Support the creation, management and development of Operational Risk program strategy, policies and models within the Corporate Banking Business
  • Help drive culture of risk awareness

      Requirements:
      • Education -
        • Bachelor's Degree: Business, Finance, Management, or equivalent field.
        • or equivalent work experience
        • Experience -
          • 7-9 years Risk Management/Risk MIS
          • Financial Services industry.
          • Skills & Abilities -
            • Strong operational risk management principles, methodologies and tools, governance principles and activity preferably in a financial services technology environment.
            • Knowledge of workflow/processes and risks/controls, including: origination, underwriting, servicing, and collections/workout.
            • Ability to independently operate in a complex, matrixed environment; adept at delivering and maintaining productive working relationships across business, functions, geographies and lines of defense
            • Advanced operational risk, process, and control validation and/or assessment skills.
            • Ability to direct, train and guide peers, subordinates and management.
            • Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups to ensure appropriate accounting guidance is followed.
            • Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.
            • Ability to convey a sense of urgency and drive issues/projects to closure.
