JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for leading a team of process engineers. The manager will supervise all aspects of process engineering activities, including process control, yield management, process development, and technical problem-solving by providing resources and technical guidance. He/she will align the activities of individual engineers with the goal of the organization, including the quality and environmental objectives, by identifying key actions and setting priorities. The manager will help the professional development of team members and maintain cooperative teamwork. This person will serve as the technical representative for the engineering group in internal/external communication.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising/facilitating engineers for process control, yield, process development, and meeting targets.
  • Supervising/facilitating engineers for technical problem-solving.
  • Providing general technical leadership.
  • Set priorities and guide engineering activities in alignment with the goal of organization.
  • Collaborates with other functional groups, including Operation, Equipment Engineering, Process Integration, Design, Supply Chain, etc. to achieve business unit/organizational objectives.
  • Assess competence and evaluate performance of individual engineers and provide mentorship for professional development.
  • Promote and facilitate cooperative teamwork.
  • Serve as the representative of the team in internal/external communication.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Choose one of the following options in each category

3A. Required Minimum Education

4 Year College Degree (Bachelor or Equivalent)

3B. Expected Minimum Years of Related Experience

7+ years

  • A Bachelors' degree in Physics, Chemistry, Material Sciences or a closely related science or engineering major and at least 7 years of experience in the semiconductor industry or a Master degree and 5 years of industry experience or a PhD degree with 3 years of industry experience.
  • 3+yrs of engineering management required.
  • Semiconductor processing or optoelectronics device experience preferred.
  • Experience of mentoring other engineers.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of general semiconductor wafer processing and engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of multiple unit processes related to chip/eval operation.
  • Knowledge of engineering statistics.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor lasers or optoelectronic devices is preferred.
  • Good written/oral communication skill.
  • Fluency in MS Office suite as well as JMP or other statistics software.
  • Project management skill
  • Team management and development skill.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work in a class 100/1000 clean room for extended periods
  • Wear full cleanroom attire (smock, mask, etc.)
  • Work with and/or around chemicals (such as solids and acids)
  • Stand for up to 4 hours at a time
  • Lift up to 16-30 Pounds
  • Push/Pull up to 16-30 pounds
  • Sit for up to 4 hours at a time

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Everyone must follow the site EHS procedures and the II-VI Corporate EHS standards.
  • Capable of working with laser safety goggle on for extended time.

  • This position is responsible for the execution and maintenance of the IS0 9001, 14001 and other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
