SUMMARY:The Accounting Assistant, under general supervision, provides support for the Grant Accountant and Property Manager.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Applies, interprets, and communicates policies and procedures and serves as a resource for answering questions regarding policies.Maintains a variety of fiscal and administrative records. Posts information to agency records and modifies forms or records. Verifies, processes, and reviews forms, reports, and other documents.Performs reconciliations of various funds and accounts.Assists with various reporting obligations performed by accounting.Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.Responsible for preparation of manual invoices for sponsored projects.Responsible for review of grant accounts and necessary budget transfers to clear up pool deficits.Participate in quarterly and annual audits.Compile and prepare routine reports and summariesMaintain confidentiality of all financial dataMay assist with property management tasks as neededAssist with reconciliations pertaining to inventoryCompletes other required tasks as assigned.Assists Property Manager & Grant Accountant with tasks as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Four (4) years of related experience. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Licensing/Professional Certifications: NonePhysical Requirements: NoneOther Requirements: NonePREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:Business degree preferred. Experience in higher education. Knowledge of and experience with FAMIS, Cascade (or Word Press) and Banner.SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:May supervise and assist with training student workers.All positions are security-sensitive.
