Responsibilities

Texoma Medical Center, a 414-bed acute care facility has been providing quality health care to the residents of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1965. Our main campus is located in Denison, Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. In addition, we have numerous facilities in locations throughout the Texoma region. Since 1965, TMC has forged a special relationship with the people of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. Codes and abstracts inpatient and outpatient records using appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems. Inpatient coder reviews charts for admission appropriateness and severity of illness. Outpatient coder codes outpatient accounts, checks for medical necessity, and works closely with Business Office and ancillary departments. Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED
• 1 year coding experience or will consider education from an approved AHIMA, AAPC coding course or HIM college program
• Preferred CCS, CCA or eligible, RHIA, RHIT
• Skilled in ICD-10-CM/CPT with knowledge of PPS/DRG/APC systems plus knowledge of computer systems. Ability to communicate effectively with other departments and medical staff. Knowledge of 3M encoder or equivalent encoder.
