Description
Job Purpose or Objective(s): Responsible for aiding CNOSH team in monitoring Choctaw Nation facilities for safety hazards and to assist the team in maintaining a variety of occupational safety and health programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for our employees, and guests in our facilities.
Our Summer Intern Program is an 8-week temporary, paid program that runs from June 5th - July 28th, 2023. This position pays $15 per hour.
Primary Tasks:

• 
  Assist with identifying training needs through current statistical trends/indicators and ensure appropriate risk-specific training is being completed.
  
  
• 
  Assist with developing safety programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, proper job instruction, hazardous disposal procedure, and proper use of protective equipment.
  
  
• 
  Assist with conducting on-site facility audits to ensure the workplace is in compliance with best practices using the following as guidelines: Occupational Safety & Health Administration, Department of Transportation, Department of Labor, National Fire Protection Association, Environmental Protection Agency, Safety Life Codes, Workers' Compensation Act, and other applicable standards and codes.

  Assist with investigating the root causes of accidents and prepare reports with the findings and corrective actions.

  Assist with recommending measures to reduce or eliminate industrial accident and health hazards.
  
  
• 
  Assist with implementing initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illness, and exposure to long-term health hazards.
  
  
• 
  Assist with providing data reporting for Tribal Safety Manager on Safety Compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  
  
• 
  Assist with site safety meetings and act as a resource for the Choctaw Nation Occupational Safety & Health team.
  
  
• 
  Perform other duties as may be assigned.
  
  
  Required Education, Skills and Experience:
  MINIMUM
  

• 
  
• 
  Choctaw Nation CDIB or Choctaw Member Status
  
  
• 
  Must be available to work 40 hours per week, 8 consecutive weeks
  
  
• 
  Must be currently attending an accredited college, university, or postsecondary education institution
  
  
• 
  Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPS) of 2.5 GPA or greater.
  
  
• 
  Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently or in a group and manage priorities
  
  
• 
  Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
  
  
• 
  Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
