The Systems Engineering Supervisor under the guidance of management, supervises the activities and output of a team of systems engineers focused on analyzing business and technology problems to be solved through automation, process, and technology improvements. Provides oversight and guidance on system automation, monitoring, configuration, and delivery to improve uptime and increase efficiency.
This position can be worked at any Jack Henry location or remote within the US.
What you'll be responsible for:
Coordinates and supervises the work of a team of System Engineers. May provide technical leadership as appropriate.
Provides input into the planning and leads the development and implementation of new technologies and solutions in a hybrid cloud environment.
Provides input into the analysis, acquisition, configuration, and support of operating systems, databases, and utilities software.
Participates in the definition and documentation of technical and business requirements. Participates in the identification, implementation, and measurement of new solutions to those requirements.
Performs continuous review of technologies, industry standards and industry-related developments and makes recommendations to management relative to the need for further research and associated changes. Leads in the dissemination of this knowledge to other team members and peers.
Ensures technology solutions support the needs of the customer and/or organization.
Coordinates work internally, across other teams, with vendors, and potentially with customers.
Ensures that all reported issues are tracked and resolved in a timely manner.
Participates in hiring, firing, objective setting, performance appraisals, and coaching. May also participate in pay reviews.
May serve as an expert on systems architecture and automation principals.
May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you'll need to have:
6 years of VMware Horizon experience.
6 years of VMware vSphere 6.x/7.x experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Will participate in an on call rotation.
What would be nice for you to have:
Supervises daily activities of staff performing same or similar tasks.
Responsible for coaching and discipline of staff.
Assists with difficult inquiries or problems and may perform duties of the actual job along with staff.
Problem-solves and demonstrates advanced knowledge of field. Performs hiring, firing, objective setting, performance appraisals, coaching and pay reviews.
Excellent knowledge of the technology industry, systems engineering, capacity and lifecycle management, and infrastructure-as-code.
VMware and other system engineering or architecture certifications and/or an active desire to pursue such certifications a plus.
High-level knowledge of cloud, infrastructure, network, and software design principals.
Able to oversee the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of systems solutions. Guides development efforts toward solving business needs.
Able to apply company policies and procedures to resolve issues.
Able to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple and complex projects.
Able to coach and mentor employees, providing career and professional guidance.
